Dr. Stephen Obeng grew up in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago before his family chose to settle in Ormond Beach. Dr. Obeng completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Spruce Creek High School and later attended the University of Central Florida, where he earned his B.S. degree in Health Science and discovered his passion for Dentistry. Prior to starting dental school, Dr. Obeng completed an accelerated Masters program in Biomedical Science, and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry (Go Gators)!
While in dental school, Dr. Obeng held numerous leadership positions, including the Dental Ambassadors, Admissions Outreach Ambassadors, yearly mission trips to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, and was co-founder of the annual philanthropy, Super Sealant Saturday. Super Sealant Saturday is an annual event which provides preventative dental services to low-income families in the Gainesville community. Following dental school, Dr. Obeng furthered his education by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the Orlando VA Medical Center. During this program, Dr. Obeng expanded his knowledge on implant placement, implant restorations, socket preservation, restoration of vertical dimension of occlusion, anterior esthetics, root canal therapy and management of medically compromised patients. Dr. Obeng is a member and fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI), the local Volusia/Flagler Dental Society, Central Florida District Association, Florida Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Obeng enjoys spending time with his wife, their puppy, Tucker and their cat Tedward. As a family, they love to try authentic cuisines, attend church, and participate in outdoor activities such as biking, running, and hiking. Dr. Obeng is fully committed to excellence in patient care, and looks forward to treating your dental needs!
